Nemetschek Group has introduced three artificial intelligence products for architecture, engineering and construction: Archicad Max, Allplan Max and Bluebeam Max.

The launch marks the next stage of the software provider's AI strategy across its design, engineering and construction portfolio.

The products bring AI functions into software already used by architects, engineers and construction teams. They are intended to reduce repetitive manual work, improve access to project information and support coordination across different stages of building projects.

Archicad Max is aimed at architects, Allplan Max at engineering workflows and Bluebeam Max at construction teams. All three are built on the Nemetschek Intelligence Platform, the group's common AI and data foundation.

The move comes as firms across Southeast Asia's built environment sector continue to digitise their operations but still face fragmented workflows, staff shortages and routine administrative work. Building information modelling has become more common in the region, yet companies still struggle to link data, drawings and project information across teams and software systems.

Nemetschek is also using the launch to highlight its long-standing support for open standards and interoperability. The products are designed to work with open data exchange models such as IFC and with third-party AI tools through the Model Context Protocol, rather than keeping customers within a single software environment.

Julian Geiger, Chief AI Officer at Nemetschek Group, said the company's approach is to embed AI in existing project workflows rather than present it as a separate layer of technology.

"AI in our industry only creates real value when it understands the project, works where professionals work and connects with everything else on the job," Geiger said. "With Archicad Max, Allplan Max and Bluebeam Max, we are scaling one AI strategy across design, engineering and construction, built on a shared intelligence platform rather than isolated features. And we are doing it the Nemetschek way: open. Our AI connects to open standards like IFC and to the AI tools our customers choose, through open protocols such as the Model Context Protocol. Customers keep ownership of their data, their choice of tools and their professional judgment. That is how AI becomes a trusted part of everyday work, not just another platform to be locked into."

Architecture focus

In architecture, Archicad Max adds an AI Assistant in beta that can complete multi-step tasks within the Archicad model. It also includes AI Assistant Spaces, intended to provide responses based on a firm's own standards and project knowledge, as well as an updated AI Visualizer.

The product also includes early access to Nemetschek Creator, a browser-based design platform for early-stage work. Full access is planned with its commercial release.

Engineering tools

For engineers, Allplan Max 2027 extends AI functions across several brands in Nemetschek's engineering portfolio, including Allplan, SCIA, FRILO, RISA and SDS2. The software covers connected modelling, analysis and fabrication workflows.

Listed functions for the engineering product include Feature Builder, AI BIM Modeler, AI Visualizer, AI Formula Writer, AI BIM Analyst, AI Structural Analyst, AI Drafter and AI Coach. Nemetschek said early beta users reported selected tasks being completed up to 36 per cent faster, while final design review and approval remain with engineering professionals.

Construction use

Bluebeam Max has been available globally since May 2026 and adds AI-driven review tools to Bluebeam Revu. These include Smart Review for spotting design discrepancies and missing information, Smart Overlay for identifying changes across drawing sets, and Magic Markups for automating repeated markup and takeoff work.

The construction software also includes a stitching function that combines drawing sheets into a single navigable view, intended for large infrastructure projects. More than 2,000 early adopters reported productivity gains in preconstruction, design coordination and construction management, according to Nemetschek.

Nemetschek argues that openness in AI will matter as much as the tools themselves. Archicad Max provides a public Archicad MCP Server in beta, while Bluebeam Max supports Model Context Protocol links with Anthropic Claude, GitHub Copilot CLI and AnythingLLM.

That approach reflects a wider debate in the construction software market, where companies are trying to add AI features without further fragmenting already complex project environments. For users in architecture, engineering and construction, the practical issue is often less about access to AI itself and more about whether it fits into existing model, drawing and document workflows.

Bluebeam Max and Allplan Max 2027 are available globally, while Archicad Max is being rolled out by region with Archicad 30. Availability, feature scope and packaging may vary by product, plan and market.
