Verda has appointed Mikko Einiö as Chief Financial Officer as it expands its AI cloud business internationally.

Based in London, Einiö will lead the finance organisation, with responsibility for financial planning, capital raising and capital allocation. He joins from Nokia, where he was Head of Corporate Development, after nearly two decades at Morgan Stanley in London and New York.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth at Verda. In June, the company reached an annualised revenue run rate of about USD $120 million, up tenfold over the previous 18 months.

That growth has coincided with a broader push beyond Verda's European base. The Helsinki-headquartered company is expanding its infrastructure and operations across Europe, the United States and Asia as demand for AI computing resources rises.

London is set to become one of Verda's main global hubs. Einiö will be based there, and Verda plans to hire more than 100 employees in the city over the next six months.

Before joining Nokia, Einiö spent nearly 20 years at Morgan Stanley, advising companies on equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and initial public offerings.

His appointment gives Verda a senior finance executive with capital markets experience at a time when AI infrastructure groups face pressure to secure large amounts of funding while managing heavy spending on data centres, hardware and network expansion.

Growth plans

Verda provides on-demand computing for AI workloads. Customers can access computing resources without a sales process or long-term contract, while the company manages the underlying stack, from data centres and server hardware to the cloud platform customers use.

The business operates across Europe, the US and Asia and employs around 150 people from more than 30 nationalities. It has raised more than USD $200 million from investors including Lifeline Ventures, byFounders, J12 Ventures, Skaala, Varma and Tesi, as well as financial institutions.

Verda is also one of a select group of NVIDIA Preferred Partners globally, a designation that places it within the supply chain of one of the most sought-after chipmakers in the AI market.

Einiö said the role appealed to him because of the scale of the market opportunity and Verda's ambitions.

"Building AI infrastructure at global scale requires access to significant capital, disciplined capital allocation and flawless operational execution. The coming years represent a critical opportunity for European companies to scale and establish themselves as global leaders in AI infrastructure. Verda stood out to me because Ruben and the team combine bold global ambition with an exceptional pace of execution and a clear understanding of what it takes to succeed in this market. I look forward to helping build the financial and capital platform needed to turn that ambition into sustained global growth," said Mikko Einiö, Chief Financial Officer, Verda.

The appointment reflects a broader trend of infrastructure and cloud companies recruiting executives with investment banking and corporate finance backgrounds as demand for AI-related computing continues to attract large pools of capital. In this sector, access to funding and disciplined capital deployment can be as important as customer growth.

Verda's founder linked the hire directly to that need, saying Einiö would play a central role as the company builds out infrastructure to meet global demand for compute.

"AI is becoming critical infrastructure, and our goal is to build the platform frontier AI teams can depend on as they scale. We are scaling at pace, and Mikko brings more than two decades of experience raising and deploying capital for some of the world's leading companies. He will be central as we expand our infrastructure to meet the global demand for compute," said Ruben Bryon, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Verda.
